January 13, 2003 board minutes
The Secret
Woods January board meeting was called to order at 6:35 p.m. by
Board President Joe Miller in the conference room of the YMCA on
Belfort Road.
The following board members attended: Bill
Bortzfield, Byron DeLong, Joe Miller, and Horst Pophal.
Residents Carol Bozak, Gerda and Harold Humphries also attended.
Joe started the meeting by going over the December financial
statement. He then noted that the planned Christmas Eve
luminaries project had to be cancelled at the last minute
because of rain. The luminaries will be saved for use
sometime during the 2003 Christmas season.
Joe reported that the fountain repair crew from Orlando still
had not made it up to fix the fountain at the front entrance of
the neighborhood. Joe said if the fountain is not fixed by
the next board meeting he would look into having it repaired by
someone in Jacksonville. It was noted that the Orlando
company originally installed the fountain.
The board made preparations to begin reviewing and
updating the neighborhood's
by-laws.
The review of the by-laws is expected to begin in February.
A progress
report was given by Joe on remodeling the bathrooms at the
pool. New stalls still need to be installed. Joe is
approaching a former neighbor about doing the job. If the former
neighbor is unavailable bids will be sought.
The board
decided to hold a neighborhood beautification workday on
Saturday, February 15 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Volunteers will be asked to clean-up and help with new
landscaping along the front entrance and pond area.
The board also
discussed whether to raise the annual homeowners dues or pursue
an increase in the new homeowner's initiation fee.
The general feeling was an increase for new homeowner's would be
preferable to an increase to current homeowners.
The board
decided to hold it's next meeting on Monday, February 3 at 6:30
p.m. The meeting was adjourned at approximately 7:35 p.m.
Submitted by
Board Member Bill Bortzfield on 01/13/03.
