Ken was our neighbor and a long-time Secret Woods resident. He passed away unexpectedly on January 14, 2026. Ken and Sharon lived on Chapelwood Lane. He was a devoted husband, loving father, doting grandfather and a true friend to many. Ken enlisted in the Navy right after graduating from Alfred I duPont HS. After leaving the Navy, he worked for Volkswagen Motors for several years before joining Anheuser-Busch of Jacksonville, working his way up the ladder to become the Plant Services Coordinator. Fishing and working with his hands were passions which he loved to share with family and friends.
Ken was predeceased by his parents, John Peterson and Geneva Peterson (Hunt); his wife of 55 years, Sharon Andrews Peterson; his brother John Peterson; and his son-in-law Scott Sheppard.
He is survived by his children, Kimberly Sheppard of Jacksonville and Michael Peterson (Mark) of Sterling, MA; his grandchildren, Hannah Sheppard, Sean and Liam Peterson; his sister Rebecca Hutson of Nocatee; and his brother-in-law Clyde Andrews (Suzanne) of Savannah, GA. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A Memorial Service was held at Aspire Church on February 18, 2026. Memorial donations may still be made to the American Heart Association or the Alzheimer’s Association.
