Cloud cover helped scouts and parents keep their cool at Hanna Park on Saturday, August 14.  Scouts and their families gathered for a day of fishing and biking at the oceanfront park.  Thanks to Mr. Ellis for cooking the hot dogs and to mother nature for keeping things relatively cool.

Splish, splash: Fun in the sun
Video of the swim party (Video player must have 3gp file support)
Perfect weather greeted the 2005 Pack 318 pool party on Saturday, July 16.   The Bear den had a terrific turnout and the Webelo I den was also represented (hey Wolfs and Webelo IIs... where were you?).  Hot dogs, diving, splashing, noodles, submarines and rings made up an afternoon of summer fun at the Secret Woods community pool.  Many were there from two to six p.m. for crystal blue skies and warm water wackiness.  Our next big event is at Hanna Park in August.  See the calendar for more details.

What do water and Mr. Sparky have in common?
Plenty.  Saturday Pack 318 met up at the Kids Kampus water park to combine some fun and learning.  After an initial splash at the downtown riverfront park we were given a tour of the old fire station at the park by "Mr. Sparky," who is a veteran Jacksonville firefighter and the museum's curator.  We saw fire apparatus and history dating back to the 19th century.   Next up is our summer swim party on July 16 from 4 to 6pm at the Secret Woods Community pool.  To learn more about the pool click here.

What a blast
Pack 318 video from Scout Blast 2005
Photo gallery: 2005 Scout Blast & rocket building
Pack 318 definitely got the place rockin' at Scout Blast 2005.  Saturday night several of the Wolfs started dancing to the sounds of the Navy rock band.  Pretty soon the lead singer was out in the audience encouraging others to follow the Wolfs' example.  This year's annual get together was be held at the Jacksonville Equestrian Center. The big action-packed Scout Show included dozens of hands-on displays, equestrian shows, parades and demonstrations, as well as camping.

And speaking of blasts... the Wolf and Bear dens prepared for blast off with a rocket building night at Michael's on Southside.   Each scout built a red rocket that was theirs to keep.  Anyone launch their rocket  yet?
