The Secret
Woods February board meeting was called to order at 6:33 p.m. by
Board President Joe Miller in the conference room of the YMCA on
Belfort Road.
The following board members attended: Bill
Bortzfield, Byron DeLong, Joe Miller, and Horst Pophal.
Residents Mike Veltri, Bonnie Cowling, Christian Bassett also attended.
Joe opened the
meeting by stating that State Farm has announced it is
canceling the neighborhood's insurance policy. Joe is currently
getting estimates for a replacement policy with a different
carrier. But early estimates indicate the rate may triple
in price for similar coverage.
Mike
brought up that there has been a lot more street parking
recently. He also commented that he's seeing
refuse being put out too earlier. It was noted that
neighbors should wait until the evening or day before refuse
pick-up before placing their lawn clippings and other lawn
debris on the curb. The city picks up lawn refuse on
Mondays. For more information on garbage and clippings
pick-up click
here.
Joe
announced that the neighborhood workday has been rescheduled for Saturday, February 22.
It's been rescheduled because the original date fell on
President's Day weekend, which is a holiday for Duval County
students and some workers. Volunteers should meet at 7:45
a.m..
Work starts promptly at 8 a.m. The board decided a pizza
lunch will be
provided. Neighbors should bring rakes, shovels, trimmers,
weedwackers and hedge
clippers. The board will supply garbage
bags.
Joe
reported that the Orlando
fountain company still hasn't fixed the fountain at the pond at
the front of the neighborhood. Since they are taking so
long, it was decided to obtain local quotes to fix the
pond.
The
next board meeting was scheduled for Monday, March 10.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:20
p.m.
