The Secret
Woods May 12 board meeting was called to order at 6:34 p.m. by
Board President Joe Miller in the conference room of the YMCA on
Belfort Road.
The following board members attended: Bill
Bortzfield, Joe Miller, Tom Bozak, Jim Cowling,
Byron DeLong and Horst Pophal. Residents
Sallie Wnuk, Harold Humphries and Gerda Humphries also attended.
The meeting was opened with the reading of the minutes. The
minutes were approved as read.
Joe then turned to Jim Cowling for a report on estimates
obtained to replace Secret Woods fencing at the rear of
the neighborhood behind the Loving's residence. Silverman Fence
Company estimated replacement cost at $9,722.00. The board
decided to postpone any decision on the fencing until more
estimates could be obtained.
Joe then gave the board an update on the neighborhood's
pending insurance rate increase with State Farm Insurance.
Joe spoke with State Farm spokesman Parvez Sohotra about the
neighborhood's policy. Sohotra said the new rate still
isn't known but should be announced by State Farm by
the end of May. The neighborhood's mold coverage has been
dropped as a condition of renewing the policy.
Attention then turned to the
pool which has experienced ongoing problems. Joe told the board that Portofino Pools
claimed the plumbing in the pool's pump house had gone bad and was
causing the erratic water levels. David Gray Plumbing was
then called in. David Gray replaced
the plumbing. Once the plumbing was replaced, new leaks
were detected in the pool's feeder lines, which are 18-years-old. Portofino was out today
(Monday, May 12) to start work on replacing
the pool's feeder lines.
This weekend's plumbing charge from David Gray was
$350. The final cost of replacing the feeder lines
was still being determined.
Joe noted more pool keys have been ordered for
residents. Joe thanked John Loving and Horst Popal for handing
out the keys to residents.
Joe then noted someone has
vandalized the men's bathroom at the pool. It is
unknown who the vandal is.
Discussion then turned to the neighborhood's upkeep.
Possible projects discussed included new landscaping and pool
upgrades. Sallie commented she would like to see some money
spent to hire professionals to improve the pool, do some
landscaping and
replace the fencing. Joe asked Sallie to get a quote to tile
the pool entryway, which she agreed to do. She also agreed
to help out with meeting workers from Portofino Pools while
repair work is completed.
The
upcoming annual homeowners meeting was then discussed. Harold pointed out that proper notice hadn't been
followed for the annual meeting. The covenants state that each homeowner must be mailed a notice at least 15 days before a meeting, Harold
said. So the meeting was tentatively rescheduled again for Monday, June 9.
The date is tentative until Joe can confirm that the church will be available. Mailers
will then be sent out to everyone.
Tom brought up that the covenants and bylaws still
need to be updated. Joe said he would get copies to the board members to
review. Joe noted that the copy on the Website is incomplete.
Harold
suggested bringing back the block captains and said the annual
meeting would be the perfect time to ask for volunteers.
The
next board meeting was scheduled for Monday, June 9, with plans
to combine it with the annual homeowners meeting. The meeting was adjourned at
7:39 p.m.
