The Secret Woods
November 8, 2004 board meeting was called to order by Board President Sallie Wnuk at 6:30 p.m. at the
home of the Wnuks.
The following board members attended: Bill Bortzfield, Valerie Redmond, Jim
Thompson, Horst Pophal, and Sallie Wnuk. Residents Byron DeLong and Mary Loving also attended.
Sallie opened the meeting by asking Bill to read the minutes from the October 11 board meeting. The minutes were approved as read.
Sallie then asked Valerie for the treasurer's report. Valerie said no report was available
because the records are still in the transfer and setup process. Valerie
is taking over as interim treasurer from former board treasurer Tom Bozak.
Sallie
then updated the board on efforts to get the sign at the
neighborhood's back entrance fixed. Sallie said Stormarm Tree
consulted with a lawyer and then agreed to give the
neighborhood the information it needs to file an insurance claim
against Strongarm Tree. For details on the earlier
discussions see
last month's minutes.
Board
member Wayne Williams, who agreed to get bids on the back entrance
repair project,
was not in attendance so no vote was taken on moving forward
with contracting out the repair work.
Sallie
then reported that no one has expressed interest in filling the
board vacancy left by Tom Bozak's resignation.
Bill
then read the results of an online poll asking residents if Secret
Woods should have a luminaries night this year. One hundred
percent of those that took part voted yes. The majority,
64%, voted in favor of holding the luminaries night on Saturday,
December 18.
The
board voted unanimously to hold luminaries night on December
18. Now that a date has been chosen Bill will check with Cub
Scout Pack 318 and Boy Scout Troop 159 to see if either
organization would be interested in helping distribute the
luminaries as a public service project.
Valerie
reported the Halloween parade was a big success. The total
cost of the event was $133. Video coverage of the parade is
available by clicking

Sallie then reported the family that owns lot 37 has requested
permission to build an addition onto their home. The
family's request has been turned over to the neighborhood's
architectural review committee.
Sallie then noted that there is a tree that has been leaning up against
some power lines. She contacted JEA. But JEA has not
responded. Sallie said she would call JEA one more time and if
she can't get a response then she will call a professional tree service come out and take a look.
The
board approved her proposed course of action.
Board
member Jim Thompson noted a family has been keeping their boat in
their driveway, in violation of the covenants. Sallie said
she would contact the family about the infraction
personally. She also noted that an infraction letter was sent
to another family concerning some refuge that had not been picked
up. The family quickly responded and has since taken care of
the problem.
Bill
noted that he has replaced the flag pole light, which had been taken.
The next meeting, was
scheduled for December 13, 2004. The meeting was then adjourned at 7:25 p.m.
