The Secret Woods
April 11, 2005 Homeowner's Association Board Meeting was called to order by
Board President Sallie Wnuk at 6:32 p.m. at her home.
The following
members attended: Bill Bortzfield, Horst Pophal, Jim Thompson, Wayne Williams,
and Sallie Wnuk. Residents Bonnie Cowling, Byron DeLong and Mary Loving also
attended.
Sallie opened the
meeting by asking Bill to read the March minutes. The minutes were approved as
read.
Sallie
then relayed the treasurer's report from Valerie Redmond, who was unable to
attend. As of April 11 the neighborhood had a balance of $16,431.
The annual homeowners meeting was confirmed for June 20
at Southpoint Baptist Church. Notice of the annual meeting and dues letters will be mailed out
within a week.
A large portion of the meeting was devoted to going
over the neighborhood's application for a $5,000 city grant to defray the cost
of replace the
fencing around the neighborhood's front pond and entrances.
Residents Bonnie Cowling and Mary Loving have attended
the city workshop and put many hours into filling out all the paperwork
necessary to apply for the grant. The grants are scheduled to be awarded
June 24.
Attention then turned to whether to increase the
neighborhood initiation fee. The board voted to put the question on the annual meeting agenda
with a suggestion the initiation fees be raised to $500.
Another topic of discussion at the annual meeting will
be whether to hire a management company to take over many of the duties
currently performed by neighborhood volunteers on the board. It was
noted that no volunteers have come forward to fill the position open on the
board since Tom Bozak moved last year.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 p.m. Submitted
by Board Secretary Bill Bortzfield on April 17.
