Board meeting minutes - May 9, 2005
The Secret Woods
May 9, 2005 Homeowner's Association Board Meeting was called to order by Board
President Sallie Wnuk at 6:32 p.m. at her home.
The following
members attended: Bill Bortzfield, Valerie Redmond, Horst Pophal, Jim Thompson,
Wayne Williams, and Sallie Wnuk. Residents Byron DeLong and
Sharon Pacetti also attended.
Sallie opened the
meeting by asking Bill to read the April minutes. The minutes were approved as
read.
Sallie then called
on Valerie for the treasurer's report. As of May 9, 2005
the neighborhood had a balance of $12,364.34.
The balance did not include the 2005 annual dues payments that have been
received from 49 homeowners so far.
Those checks were deposited were today.
Sallie relayed from
Bonnie Cowling that the city's neighborhood grant application (see
April minutes for details) announcement of winners has been delayed to
September.
Secret Woods did make the deadline with its grants proposal application.
Sallie thanked
Bill, Horst, and Jim for help addressing and envelope stuffing the annual dues
letters.
She then reported
that Richard's
Lawn Care pressured
washed the pool area and that Piner's
Lock and Safe came
out and put in a new lock on the service entrance at the pool. Cost
for lock and four keys was $124.25.
Valerie noted the
sidewalk near the mailbox is need of repair.
It was also noted
that one of the neighborhood's family's has been violating the covenants by
constantly leaving their boat in the driveway. An infraction letter will
be sent to the homeowner and several other lot owners who have not been
maintaining their yards. An infraction letter is also being sent to
a homeowner that has a front entrance doorway in need of repair.
Sallie noted that
only one umbrella
is left at the pool in working condition.
Bill made a motion
up to $300 be spent on replacing the umbrellas.
Valerie seconded the motion and the motion passed. A new net will
also be purchased for the basketball hoop.
Attention then
turned to the annual meeting. Sallie agreed to take care of getting
cookies and refreshments for the meeting.
The board agreed
to meet on Monday, June 13, in preparation for the annual homeowners
meeting.
Valerie noted it
was time to start doing research into the proposal that the neighborhood
consider hiring a management company to take over most board duties.
Jim Thompson agreed
to start the research project by checking with the Hickory Glen board to find out who they are
using and what they
are paying.
Valerie also noted
that the bank account needed updating to give her signing power and have former
treasurer Tom Bozak's name removed from the list.
The meeting was adjourned
at
7:10pm.
