MINUTES OF SECRET WOODS HOMEOWNERS
ASSOCIATION MEETING
DATE: March 9, 2009 LOCATION: Publix Meeting Room BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Gary Bassett, Ross Thompson, Katherine Frazier, David Hargnett, Shon Graham, Rob Hagen HOMEOWNERS PRESENT: Byron DeLong, Neil Lebhar Meeting was called to order; minutes from the February 9, 2009 monthly meeting were read and accepted. The treasurer’s February report was read and accepted. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: *SPRING FLING - LUAU: Quotes from Sonny’s Barbeque and Bono’s Barbeque were presented to the board. It was decided to use Bono’s with pickup on the day of the event. Drinks,cups, ice and buns will be purchased by Beth Reiney. Tablecloths, leis, and hula hoops have been purchased as well. Bill Champion will supply the music; the Bounce House will be available, and Shon Graham and David Hargnett have built two sets of Corn Hole Toss for the tournament. Plans are in place for an exciting and fun event. *WORK DAY IN APRIL: Saturday, April 18 has been chosen as the neighborhood work day. Volunteers should meet in the parking lot at 8:00am and plan to assist with clean up along the fence row. Several dead trees need removing as well as leaves and debris need to be raked and bagged. Rob Hagen, Ross Thompson, David Hargnett and Shon Graham have agreed to head the workforce on our clean up day. Neighbors should bring their rakes, chainsaws, lawn bags and clippers. NEW BUSINESS: HOA SEMINAR: Gary Bassett and Rob Hagen attended the Clayton & McCulloh Homeowners Association Seminar. Materials from the seminar as well as ideas were shared with the board. POND CONCERNS: There has been some concern expressed that the broken drain from years past on the pond behind Lot 29, and present vegetation growth, might have caused flooding during Hurricane Fay. The city has been asked to survey the area to determine if any changes or improvements need to be made. UMBRELLAS AT THE POOL: New umbrellas need to be purchased for the pool area. The board is concerned about the cost of commercial grade umbrellas and if the longevity would outweigh the cost. No decision will be made until further costing is brought to the board. REVAMPING MAILBOX AREA: Preliminary plans were discussed on ways to revamp and improve the mailbox area. Ideas of widening the overhang, enlarging the bulletin board area, replacing the lattice work with wood, and leveling the mailboxes were discussed at length. As this will be a major improvement the board feels it needs several months to draw plans, get bids, and set the budget for the project. More discussions will take place at the April meeting. The next board meeting will be held Monday, April 13, 2009 at the Publix Meeting Room at 6:30pm. *Meeting was adjourned at 7:39 pm.
