MINUTES OF SECRET WOODS HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION MEETING

BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Gary Bassett, Katherine Frazier, David Hargnett, , Beth Reiney, Ross Thompson, Shon Graham,
HOMEOWNERS PRESENT: Bryon DeLong

Meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. The minutes from the October board meeting were accepted as written. The financial statement prepared by Pat Parrish was accepted as written.

OLD BUSINESS:

*RETENTION POND VEGETATIVE GROWTH/FISH: Cliff Harrison, Harrison Environmental was contacted regarding the algae growth in the pond on Secret Woods Drive. The product he has been using has not been effective on this different type of algae. The board approved an expenditure of $75.00 for Harrison Environmental to use a different product on this pond. Discussion also involved purchasing grass carp, a minimum of ten at $8.00 each. It was decided by the board to try the spray and not purchase the fish as Mr. Harrison felt the fish would not be enough to solve the problem. If, in the future, the pond needed the grass carp to maintain the grass and algae problem, the fish could be purchased at that time.

MAIL BOX PRESURE WASHED: Our mail box area has been pressure washed.

CHILI COOK OFF- SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 14: Final details for the chili cook-off were discussed. Supplies of drinks, paper goods, and plastic ware are available from previous functions. Plans for music, setting up the bounce house and corn hole toss were made. A sign up sheet for neighbors has been posted on the bulletin board.

BIDS FOR CLEANING POOL RESTROOMS: A bid will be given this month for the cleaning service of the pool restrooms. No complaints have been received regarding the current company; this is being done in an effort to remain competitive with bidding contracts.

WORK DAY: The work day to be scheduled in the fall to repair and update the swimming pool restrooms has been postponed until spring. The board felt it would be better to update the restrooms at the beginning of the swimming pool season rather than the end of the season.

NEW BUSINESS:

*ANNOUNCEMENT BOARD AT ENTRANCES: The announcement boards for the two entrances have arrived. Prior to installation Shon Graham will research the city sign ordinance to be sure we are in compliance. (Thanks to Joe Miller for the advice).

*PUMP AT FRONT POND: Once again the pump in the front pond is not working. Fortunately it is under warranty. Gary Bassett has notified North Florida Irrigation regarding the pump.

CHRISTMAS LUMIARY NIGHT- DECEMBER 19, 2009: The Saturday evening prior to Christmas will be the night for our neighborhood luminaries. The supplies for the luminaries will be purchased and an assembly night will be scheduled. The bags with the luminaries will be delivered to each homeowner the weekend of December 12-13. Sand will be available at the swimming pool parking lot beginning on Monday, December 14.

HOLIDAY DECORATING AWARDS: Marianne Pophal has graciously accepted Chairmanship of the Holiday Awards Committee. She and her committee will tour the neighborhood on Wednesday, December 16 and place the award signs in the winners’ yards. There will be no categories this year…. Just five chosen decorated yards and homes that exemplify the holiday season!


With all matters discussed and no further business at hand, the meeting was adjourned at 7:11 pm.

The next board meeting will be held Monday, December 14, 2009 at the Publix Meeting Room at 6:00PM.
